Anthony Sterns, PhD is the Secretary General of the International Society for Gerontechnology. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of iRxReminder LLC in Cleveland, Ohio. iRxReminder is a platform technology for ensuring patient medication and care compliance in clinical trials and for empowering and monitoring high adherence in personal prescription management. The iRxReminder platform was named an OHTec Award finalist for 2017 Best Healthcare Product.

Dr. Sterns is a recognized expert in the area of gerontechnology and a pioneer in the application of mobile computers and smartphones for improving the quality of life for individuals living with chronic illness. His research has focused on the theme of cognitive prosthetics typified by the cognitive therapeutic intervention The Memory Magic Program he helped create now used in over 2300 facilities in 7 countries.

Dr. Sterns is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America, a Fellow of Division 20 (Adult Development and Aging) of the American Psychological Association, and a Fellow of the Institute for Life-span Development and Gerontology at The University of Akron. In 2016, he was appointed to the board of the International Society of Gerontechnology. Dr. Sterns was named a 50+ Innovation Leader in Medication Adherence by AARP and MedCity News.

Dr. Sterns has over 20–years experience in designing and bringing to market products and services for the silver industries marketplace. Dr. Sterns has worked on many US Federally-funded and international research projects and has served as a principal investigator and NIH grant reviewer. Funding agencies have included The Department of Defense, The Department of Education, The National Institute on Aging, The National Institute on Mental Health, The National Institute of Drug Abuse, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dr. Sterns is a contributor to 12 U.S. Patents.

His academic roles include Adjunct Professor for the Graduate Studies in Management and Technology program for the University of Maryland University College, Adjunct Professor in the School of Professional Studies for the City University of New York, and as a Senior Lecturer for the College of Business Administration, Arts and Sciences, Family and Consumer Research, and the School of Nursing for The University of Akron, and for the College of Business at Kent State University.

Dr. Sterns received his undergraduate degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1987. Dr. Sterns received his doctorate in the field of Industrial Organizational Psychology with a graduate certificate in Gerontology in 2001 and a graduate certificate in Healthcare Management in 2014 from The University of Akron.
